The Light Within the Cave

Deep in the heart of the earth, there is a cave. It is still. It is quiet. Filled with hope and potential, we gently tread upon the winding, spiraling path. Slowly, we walk. Step by step, we descend. Step by step, we move towards the center of the Earth, searching for the sacred cave. Finding our way through the darkness, the candlelight that guides us flickers. Shadows of all shapes, sizes, and even memories dance along the walls, nudging us to ask ourselves questions that are not so easy to answer. Moving slowly, we feel a heartbeat that pulses beneath our feet. It matches the beat and rhythm of our own inner workings. When we connect to it, peace that washes over us. As we trust this inner rhythm, the candle flame becomes steady, strong, and bright. So do we.

At the end of the path, we stand before a doorway to a large cavern. Candlelight offers a welcoming glow. The flame’s light reflects upon the crystals that line its walls and ceiling revealing a sea of stars. In the center, we see the Goddess Brigid. Now awake, she gently stirs the powers within the Earth, preparing for the ascent back into the world to bring Spring’s life tide to us.

She welcomes us. She offers solace, healing, wisdom, and inspiration. Here in this sacred space, we are warmed by gentle love. We are encouraged to dream. We can let go of our fears. We can cleanse and heal our wounds. We are free to explore our depths and encouraged to stretch out of our shells to explore the outer edges. We are encouraged to take up space and grow into who we truly can be. We realize that we are purposeful beings that have a unique perspective that deserves to be explored. Take some time and talk with Brigid. How can you assist in the stirring of energies of the earth? How can you stir your own? What can you and the Goddess do together to co-create the beauty and hope in your life and in the world around you?

Much like the first light that sparked creation within the all-consuming darkness, we too, are carrying such light into the inner depths of our own inner earth. We are the sparks of creation. We are the ones who will carry the light into ourselves. If we pull back the layers even further, we can ask ourselves if we are carrying the light to create something new or was the candle lighting the way to a place where we can safely open our eyes and embrace that inner light that was already there? That is part of the journey to the Mystery, I suppose. Perhaps when we carry the light to the Goddess, we are also carrying the light for ourselves. It is a pilgrimage to the Mysteries of the cycles and rhythms of vast tapestry that we are connected to in the Universe, to our beloved Goddess, and the seasons we experience. It is also a pilgrimage to understand ourselves and our place within the tapestry of life.

The Mysteries we seek are found within us. This is something I know. I try my best to hold that truth. However, the depth and power of such meaning, has grown immensely over the last months. I am humbled by my place in the web of life that is woven all around and within me. I am honored, too. By holding that candle and offering to share my light with the Goddess, I am also sharing it with those known and unknown in my community. I also see that I am holding it for myself. And if I want to hold that flame steady and bright, I need to see, feel, experience, and nurture that flame by keeping the connections with the heartbeat in the Earth as well as the heartbeat within myself. I hope you do too.

Blessings to you today and every day. May you be the light that keeps and guides you.

Blessed Be,
