Deep within the earth, we have been wrapped in the silent stillness. We have been shedding. We have been growing. We have been dreaming. The Lady of Winter, The Cailleach, who sheltered us under her mantle as we walked our path through the liminal lands, brought us here to rest. It has been a long journey together and at times, difficult. The act of unwinding from what no longer serves us can leave us feeling wounded and raw. It is an arduous process, yet, we understand the importance of it. We must unravel slowly and purposefully in order to find our hidden and splintered pieces. This is how we heal. This is how we grow. This is how we come a little closer to embrace our true heart and hopefully, a little wiser too.

For quite a few months, I felt a longing deep within me. I had difficulty naming it and was unable to describe it. At times, I felt loss and grief. There was even a pang that weighed heavily on my heart and mind. Sometimes it was a wave that washed over me, casting a shadow where I felt the confusing feeling of being lost and alone. Then there was the anger and frustration. What was going on within me that led to such an unexpected eruption? I questioned everything. There was an indescribable emptiness that I felt and it truly confused me. I wasn’t sure why, but it was there inside me and it was very real. It would emerge while I was going about my business with my daily mundane tasks. I felt a sadness or a longing that I couldn’t quite name. It would appear quickly and out of the blue but would linger like a ghost in me.

Standing before the mouth of a cave, I can feel my body awaken. There is an intermingling of known and unknown that stirs the primal force within me. It calls out, asking me to step forward onto a path that has not been traveled by many. To decide to take the slow and steady decent is a decision that only I can make. Once the decision is made, I must trust each footstep upon the path that leads me to our collective primordial birthplace
