Come In from the Fields

Change is certainly in the air. You can feel it with summer’s hot, breezy breath turning into a cool and crisp wind. Fallen leaves are kicked up into the air once more as they perform their spiral dance, reminding us that the cycle of life is forever in motion. The sun’s golden light slips from us earlier each day, casting long fingerlike shadows that point us in the direction towards inward reflection. Warm clothing and cozy blankets wrap our thoughts and bodies as we taste the comforting treats of everything apple and pumpkin. Autumn is here and we have passed through its gate. For those who seek the mysteries and meanings within the seasons, we know

Between the Light of the Moon and Rising Sun

. I could feel the energies and blessings of the Great Celestial beings. Crickets sang in their late summer symphony. Coyotes howled in the distance. My head felt light once more as the energy surged. I knew that I was not alone in that moment. I heard the echoes of those who came before me as they wished upon the same stars. They used them to guide their way in the night as they traveled under the same moonlight. They have whispered prayers and chanted incantations for thousands of years to the beautiful Lady of Reflective Light and the twinkling diamonds that adorned her midnight mantle. I felt the ancestors, known and unknown around me, urging me to explore the sacred Mysteries.

Tell Me A Story ~ Part Four

Over the last three weeks together, we reflected on who we are and the stories that we share with ourselves and others. We took the time to listen to our hearts. We felt the stories that are held in our bellies and our bones. Maybe we were able to begin to understand the stories that were passed down to us through our blood by our family and began to gain a deeper understanding of our family dynamics and where we live within them.

Tell Me A Story ~ Part Three

We are all searching for something. Every single one of us. Whether it is for connection and understanding, safety and comfort, or honest and true communion, we are all looking to find that place in our world where we feel safe enough to let our defenses down and finally exhale. We long for a haven where we can go when the weight of the world may be too much for us to handle. We may crave a place of comfort and love where we know we will not be judged for what we are feeling or the mistakes we’ve made. There is need within us to seek out a group or community that will welcome us for simply who we are. When we find a person, trusted council or community that will accept us for who we are, we feel welcomed and accepted. It is only natural to want to seek out others who can share in the joys and pleasures we have in life as well as help us understand what is going on when we are down. We are human. We are social beings. However, there is more to our healing journey than working on our outer connections. If we are to truly heal and get to the root of our patterns, we need to also take time by ourselves to reflect.

Tell Me A Story ~ Part Two

In the quiet of the night, have you ever felt your heavy heart reach out to you? When you hear someone passing by say a name or a phrase, does it propel you into a lost memory? When a familiar scent wraps around you, have your ever relived an experience? A song comes on the radio and you smile to yourself, remembering high school antics only to quickly change the station when the next song comes on so you don’t relive a painful memory?

Tell Me A Story ~ Part One

We all have parts of ourselves that we feel no one may understand. An experience, private reflection, a long lingering thought that is wrapped up in our minds and hearts yet will never see the light of day. They are pieces we keep hidden; shuttered and cast aside into our depths where they are left behind so we can “move on”. We do this so we can feel safe and protected from the trauma in which they were born from.

Don’t Go Back to Sleep

In the silence of the early morning, I savor the fleeting moments. The Otherworldly light begins to awaken and rise. It stretches over the landscape, slowly crawling from east to west, bringing forth the new day. I willingly breathe into this being of light and find my senses slipping from dream to thought once more.

Preparing and Harvesting

It is so quiet this morning that it seems like a gift. Of course, there is a symphony of birds all around me, but it’s the mourning doves that I am taking comfort in. Their coo feels like a bit of a balm to the rawness that I have been feeling the last few weeks.

Lessons From Lavender

Last spring, my beautiful and enormous lavender plant almost didn’t make it through the winter. It wasn’t a particularly hard winter, but somehow it didn’t fully survive. I had to trim her back 85% – 90% and was crushed to see her so thin and fragile.
